Delete your DueDrop account

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, without asking anyone. It takes about thirty seconds and there's no retention trick waiting at the end of it.

Delete it yourself

  1. Log in to DueDrop. In the app or on the web, either works.
  2. Open Settings → Profile.
  3. Scroll to Delete account, confirm with your password, and it's done.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes it and everything in it, immediately and permanently:

  • Your name, email address and password
  • Every plant, with its schedule, notes and photos
  • Your whole care history: waterings, feeds, repots, growth measurements
  • Any notification subscriptions and your plant-sitter link

It cannot be undone, so export your data first if you might want it later. Your account disappears from DueDrop immediately. Encrypted disaster-recovery backups keep older snapshots on a tiered schedule (recent ones for a few weeks, then monthly and yearly archives), so a copy can sit in cold storage for a while before it ages out on its own. Those exist so a server failure can't erase everyone's plants; a deleted account is never restored from them. Anonymous, aggregated analytics that were never tied to your identity may remain.

Delete some of your data instead

You don't have to delete your account to delete part of what's in it. Each of these is yours to remove at any time, and it's gone from DueDrop at once:

  • A plant, with its schedule, notes, photos and care historyThe plant's page → Delete → Delete plant
  • One entry in a plant's history: a watering, a feed, a note, a measurement, a progress photo or a photo diagnosisThe plant's page → “delete” beside the entry → Delete entry
  • A plant's photoEdit the plant → Remove photo. Replacing a photo deletes the old one too.
  • Your plant-sitter linkSettings → Profile → Turn off sharing
  • Your calendar linkSettings → Profile → Turn off the calendar
  • Your home-screen widget linkSettings → Profile → Turn off the widget, in the Android app
  • A gift linkThe plant's page → Gift a cutting → Turn off this link
  • Notifications on a deviceSettings → Profile → Turn off notifications, on that device. Its subscription is deleted.

Photos you send to identify a plant aren't kept: they go to Pl@ntNet for the answer and nowhere else. Analytics are off unless you said yes, and the footer's cookie settings turn them off again. As with a deleted account, what you delete here ages out of the encrypted backups on its own schedule.

Can't log in?

Try a password reset first. If that doesn't work, email duedrop.admin@gmail.com from the address on the account and ask for deletion. It's one person reading that inbox, so allow a few days.
