Accessibility is DueDrop's founding purpose, not a checkbox: the whole point is bringing ease to all plant caregivers, including people using screen readers, keyboards, high zoom, or a phone with one free hand at the sink.
What that means in practice
Readable contrast, both themes
Every color pairing in the palette meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast (4.5:1 for text), checked and enforced in light and dark mode.
Full keyboard support
A visible focus ring on every interactive element, a skip-to-content link, and no keyboard traps. The species picker combobox works with arrow keys, Enter, and Escape.
Screen-reader semantics
Real landmarks on every page, labeled forms and buttons (care actions announce which plant they act on), live announcements for filter results and care-logged toasts, and status emoji like 🐾, 💤, and ❄️ carry text alternatives.
Motion, targets, and zoom
Animations are disabled when your system asks for reduced motion, header tap targets meet the 44px guideline, and layouts hold together on small screens and at high zoom.
Color is never the only signal
Due-date status shows as text ("Overdue", "Due soon", "OK") alongside the color coding, so the colors are a shortcut, not a requirement.
A work in progress, honestly
DueDrop is audited against WCAG 2.1 AA and re-checked as features ship, but accessibility is never "done": real assistive-technology use always finds things audits miss.
